BRING LIVING HYPHEN WORKSHOPS TO YOUR COMMUNITY

We are deeply honoured to have been invited by various partners to deliver our storytelling workshops to different communities across Turtle Island. We’ve worked with many arts and culture institutions, public libraries, and non-profit organizations to develop programming that encourages courageous and tender storytelling around the themes of home, identity, and belonging. Since 2019, we have worked with nearly 1800 emerging storytellers across the country to spark their creativity, explore their hyphenated identities, and cultivate a thoughtful practice of sharing and listening to each other’s stories.

If you are interested in bringing our workshops to your community, we would love to find a way to work with you. We believe that our stories carry the power to heal ourselves, our relationships, and the world.

Our Partners

We’ve been very fortunate to work with a number of different community-based organizations and institutions to deliver our writing workshops across Turtle Island.

TESTIMONIALS

Listen to what our partners have had to say about our work together.

The Brampton Arts Organization was thrilled to partner with Living Hyphen to bring writing opportunities to Brampton based artists in 2022. Justine led an engaging and impactful workshop that made space for BIPOC artists to tell and celebrate their stories.
— Katherine Belshaw, Programming Coordinator, Brampton Arts Organization
We have hosted several of Living Hyphen’s writing workshops at Markham Public Library in 2020 and all have been warmly received by our community. [Living Hyphen] has a gift for making inclusive, welcoming, and creative spaces. They create so much space for participants to be their authentic selves and exercise their storytelling skills. The workshops produce inspiring creative work as well as a sense of solidarity and collaboration. We look forward to hosting many more of Living Hyphen’s writing workshops in the future!
— Ariana Ferrone, Community Librarian, Markham Public Libraries
Working with Living Hyphen has been such an incredible experience. When we first reached out to Justine and the team, we approached them as readers and supporters of the publication and writing workshops due to the beautiful way in which they hold space for intersectional storytelling. So when we were looking for workshop facilitators to come into our Cohort X space (which brought together 6 incredible Black, Indigenous, and racialized femme community leaders working at the intersections of Climate Justice & Gender Justice) the work of Living Hyphen felt like a perfect fit. Justine graciously designed and put together a new kind of workshop to specifically fit the interests of the Cohort, which were both creative writing and pitching. The workshop itself went above and beyond our expectations and offered such a new and barrier-free approach to writing. It was such an energizing, nourishing, and healing space and that is a testament to the thought, care, and intentionality that was held by Justine. We’re so grateful for that time, and it’s our hope to be able to work with Living Hyphen again in the near future”

thoughtful workshop encouraged attendees to experiment with writing,
included writing prompts to spark creativity, and fostered opportunities to
